Demitri Christou has re-joined the Stampede after finishing his high School career with the Skaneateles Lakers. Christou played parts of two seasons with the Stampede between 2014 and 2016. Christou, the 1999 birth year defenseman will be a huge addition to the team this season at 6’1″ 175 lbs. “Demi has matured since he was last with us and has developed physically as well. He is a fun kid to be around and has now set his goals on college hockey.” states Stampede coach Mike Beavis. Christou will be paired up for the most part with Stampede Captain Rich Hart on the blue line at least from the start. “Demitri was very impressive in our spring camp, I felt he could be one of our top D coming into the season and after the first weekend I think he showed signs of that.” added Coach Althen.
The Stampede will continue their early season home stand by facing off against a couple divisional rivals this weekend as they host the Roc City Royals Friday at 7:30 PM at the Crisafulli Ice Arena in Oswego, NY. Then the Stampede will also host the Jersey Shore Wildcats on Saturday and Sunday at “The Fort” as well. Puck drop Friday and Saturday is 7:30PM and Sunday at 1:00 PM.
