In December 2012 Vasby IK J-20 Elite sent Christoffer Strath Lundgren to join his brother Viktor with the Stampede in their inaugural season with the dream of playing college hockey in the U.S. In 19 games as one of the teams strongest defensemen Christoffer added 5 goals and 7 assists and drew the attention quite a few programs in the U.S. In the end Christoffer was offered a spot with SUNY Canton's program for the 2013-2014 season. After looking at his options for schooling in the U.S. and Sweden Chris ultimately chose to return home to Stockholm Sweden to study Physiotherapy at the Karolinska Institutet. Eventually in August 2013 Lundgren started school at the Militarhogskolan Karlberg College for officer training in the Swedish Military. By late 2013 he had decided he would become a fighter pilot in the Swedish Airforce. In the late spring of 2015 Christoffer took his first solo flight in his fighter and is on his way to reaching a new dream of soaring to new heights and achieving new goals in life after junior hockey.
In the following season, Viktor returned to the U.S. and the Stampede to play a huge part in the team capturing the NSHL Championship, netting the biggest goal of his career. (The game winning goal in the Championship series between the Stampede and Fighting Spirit) The Stampede then moved on to Nationals placing 3rd in the National tournament after a devastating 1-0 shootout loss to the Bay Area Seals of the WSHL..
The Lundgren family of Mats Lundgren and Monica Strath Lundgren along with Viktor Strath Lundgren and Christoffer will always be a huge part of our family with the Stampede but more important they will always be considered my personal family as well. This is a family that you meet and bond with and make life long friends with. My family would like to say to Christoffer, Viktor, Mats and Monica, we think of all of you often and miss you all very much. Best of luck to you Chris and we hope to see you all soon!
