The Stampede return home this weekend to face the Maine Wild, both Saturday and Sunday at”The Fort”. The Stampede opened the 2018-2019 season against the Wild on the road in Maine splitting the weekend with a 4-0 win and a 3-2 loss.
The coaching staff has had the guys working very hard over the past week to prepare for the upcoming weekend match-up with the Wild. ‘We have been working on tightening up our D-zone as well as getting to the net hard on offense.” states Stampede assistant coach Travis Hyde. “The guys are pumped up for this weekend for sure.” added Hyde.
The Stampede is currently in second place in the Northeast division and look to improve on their winning percentage this weekend. With a record of 2-4 on the season the Stampede need to get on track soon. “It’s still early and the guys are still trying to adjust to each other and in some cases to junior hockey. We have a lot of young guys that have joined our veteran payers this season so at times it can be a bit of a learning stage for guys.” states coach Mike Beavis. Beavis also added that with it being so early in the season the team has time to adjust but they also don’t want to take long as they need to establish their position as early on as possible.
The teams will meet on Saturday at 7:30 PM with warm-ups beginning at 7:00 and again on Sunday at 1:00 PM. Both weekend games will take place at the Crisafulli Ice Arena (The Fort).
