The Syracuse Stampede were well represented over the past two days at the 2017 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament in Plymouth, Michigan. Matt Allen and Rich Hart both represented the Stampede well in the tournament. Nate Walker, the third Stampede pick for the tournament was unable to attend due to an injury sustained in last Sunday’s 4-3 victory over the Northeast Generals. The Stampede swept the two game road series in Boston last weekend powered by Nate Walker and goaltender Steven Kozikoski by wining game one 4-2 and game two 4-3.
The NA3HL Top Prospect tournament is set up to showcase some of the leagues finest players in conjunction with the NAHL Top Prospect event. Over 220 NCAA, USPHL,NAHL and NHL scouts were in attendance on day one of this years event. Both Allen and Hart will return to Syracuse this evening and hit the ice tomorrow in Morrisville to rejoin their team in preparation for this weekends two game series VS the Skylands Kings on the road in NJ.
The Stampede have clinched the third place spot in the Northeast division and will face the Jersey Shore Wildcats in round one of this seasons playoffs scheduled to begin March 17th in Jersey Shore. The Stampede have given Jersey Shore trouble this season and it should be a very interesting series as both teams will look to move on to the division finals. The Stampede have been building momentum over the past month and feel that they are starting to peak at just the right time with playoffs a bit over two weeks away.
