This week the 28 members of the Syracuse Stampede hit the ice for the start of the 2015-2016 season. The Stampede have gone through quite the overhaul in the off season and are shaping up to be one of the most impressive groups in the teams five year history which included a trip to the IJHL finals in 2011-2012 and the NSHL championship in 2012-2013 season.
"Quite impressed with some of the talent on this team so far." States Stampede coach Jason Lefevre. "I wasn't sure what the skill level would be watching higher ended college players over the past several seasons, I was surprised to say the least." added Lefevre.
The Stampede have quite a few veteran players from other junior leagues that will certainly help their quest for a top spot in the league this season. "This season, we have depth at all positions.. That is huge ! We will be able to roll lines without a problem and I think we will be back to the Stampede style of play from a few years back for sure" stated Coach Mike Beavis. In the past the Stampede have limited teams scoring ability while having no problem putting pucks in opponents nets. " This season we are stressing team discipline both on and off the ice with the guys.. It goes a long way not only with the league and the college coaches but with other teams as well. It has a tendancy to be contagious." added Beavis
The Stampede will finish up camp this Friday and have three more skates next week before heading off to Brooklyn to face the Aviators in a three game set on the road September 11th – 13th.
The Stampede are a proud member of the NA3EHL and USA Hockey.
