Dimtri Christou will be back in a Stampede uniform for his fourth season. Christou began his career with the team as a fifteen year old during the 2014-2015 season. The 6’1 177 lb Defenseman from Skaneateles, NY. will be a huge part of the Stampede blue line this season. “Dimi has turned in to a very solid guy for us over the past year and we are looking to his veteran status to help us this season in a big way.” states Stampede Head Coach Mike Beavis
Christou, will be counted on every night with this seasons squad and will play a huge part in what the team feels is the best defensive group they have had in quite some time. “It’s a great feeling to have knowing we have a group of guy’s on the blue-line that are capable of shutting teams down. It’s been a few years since we have been able to assemble a group like this one.” added Beavis.
The Stampede feel that this group could be as good as the team it had for the 2012-2013 season where they won the league championship in the former NSHL going 38-4 on the season and advancing to the National tournament. “Things are shaping up for us this year, we have some great new additions to add to our returning group from last season and the guys are excited.” Beavis added.
The Stampede concluded training camp this past week and will begin regular season practice Tuesday at 12:00 at the “Fort”. The team will open up this season on the road VS the Maine Wild next Saturday and Sunday in Biddeford Maine. ” I watched the Long Beach Maine Wild game on Saturday and we will be facing an always resilient Wild team and with Jeff Tory behind the Wild’s bench it will be a tough two games to say the least.” States Beavis
